International Mohair Laboratories Association

The International Mohair Laboratories Association (IMLA) was formed in 2009 to promote the standardised objective measurement of mohair.

The need for such an organisation arose after the International Mohair Association (IMA), who used to administer this function for mohair testing laboratories around the world, was dissolved.

The official objectives of IMLA are:

• To develop co-operation between Member laboratories with the view to standardization of test methods, in order to achieve correct and uniform test results on mohair.
• To promote the confidence of all processors and users of mohair in the accuracy and integrity of Member laboratories’ test results.
• To assist all interested parties in resolving disputes arising from differences in test results.
• To undertake the investigation and establishment of standard rules for any aspect of mohair testing which may, from time to time, become necessary.

The reliable supply of mohair calibration standards is essential to perform objective measurements on mohair, and is therefore a key function of IMLA.

The administrative aspects of the Association are overseen by a Management Committee, while the Technical Committee is responsible for all technical aspects relating to the stated objectives.
